Welcome to Chris Teaches Cello!

Music has always been a huge part of my life—so much so that I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t surrounded by it. I grew up in a musical family: one set of grandparents played string instruments, and my parents are both musicians, and music teachers. My brother and I learned to play instruments at the age of four, and we are still going today!

As I was growing up, I realized that the cello wasn’t just an instrument to play—it was a way to communicate, and make connections; music was, and still is, a doorway to a unique, and special world, and some of my closest friends are people I met in music school, various ensembles, or teaching opportunities.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have studied with some amazing teachers, both throughout high school, and at conservatory, who helped me improve my technique on the instrument, and deepen my love for music. All of them helped me to see music as a vehicle to become a better person, and I would not be who I am today without their guidance; their example inspired me to become a cello teacher.

Teaching has become my true passion; it is a great feeling to guide students through difficult techniques, or pieces, or help them achieve a specific goal they have in mind. Whether they are aspiring to be professional musicians, or simply enjoying learning the cello, my goal is to make sure each student feels confident, inspired, and excited about what they’re learning. Every student is different, and I love adapting my teaching to meet each person where they are in every lesson.
